Here we present an antique Dublin Castle Flintlock Brown Bess Military Musket, made circa the late-18th Century. Dublin Castle began as a fortress in about 1204. Much of what is now the Castle was built in the 18th Century. The complex served many government functions throughout the centuries. Muskets marked “DUBLIN CASTLE” were generally meant to stay in Ireland for internal and external threats, though some are known to have been used in North America during the French & Indian War as well as the American Revolutionary War. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. “DUBLIN CASTLE” and a crown/”GR” is marked on the lock for Georgius Rex or King George III in this case. The bore is smooth and gray.
