Description:
#3876 Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall, No.3x30”x40/70Ballard, VG+/Fine bore, 11xxx serial range (1887). This early single shot Model '85 also has the scarce half octagon barrel with shotgun buttplate and all features check out correct with the Cody Museum. Standard trigger and standard sights. Smooth brownish-grey metal with VG markings, just the usual light bumps and bruises of a 125+ life and two thumbprint sized blotches of light pitting on the exterior of the barrel (see photos). Nice wood with no deficits of mention. The only one downside to this decent old HiWall is that the lever “tongue” (that covers the portion just forward of the trigger) is broken off. This does NOT affect the action or the strength of the gun, but simply keeps dirt out of the action and can easily be changed out with another lever or this one repaired. Again, see the photos. A very nice early HiWall with special features, a nice bore, and an attractive price. Was $2350 .....now $2195
