1885 ITALIAN Antique Torre Arsenal VETTERLI
10.4x47mm Model 1870 Carbine
With SOCKET SPIKE BAYONET!
Description: 1885 ITALIAN Antique Torre Arsenal VETTERLI 10.4x47mm Model 1870 Carbine With SOCKET SPIKE BAYONET! Here we present an antique Italian Torre Arsenal Vetterli Model 1870 Infantry Carbine, made in 1885. The M1870 Vetterli was the Italian service rifle primarily from 1870-1887. Like several other European countries in the late 19th Century, Italy hardly seemed able to keep up with the latest and greatest firearms technology in the fierce arms race led by France and Germany. This rifle itself underwent 3 significant changes, hence the three different Model dates, in its long service life that spanned from 1870 all the way through World War II. It was made as a single shot bolt action rifle to begin with, as is this one, and was made into a repeater with the installation of the Vitali magazine, finally being brought into the smokeless powder era with the rechambering into the 6.5 Carcano. At various stages they were put into storage, then brought out again to fight. These rifles would have seen use by Italian troops in WWI, then in the hands of Italian colonial native troops in WWII. The barrel is marked “1885”, the year of production along with proof and acceptance markings. A large round acceptance mark is located on the right side of the butt stock. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. This example sports a bright bore in very good shape! The stock is solid all around. The bayonet is in good shape. A neat, early bolt action military carbine for Italy! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 17-1/2 inches. Caliber: 10.4x47mm Vetterli Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1045 #201653 SOLD Antique: Yes |
