Winchester 1873 38/40 rifle

SOLD  rifle shipped Listing  a very early , sn 86316 1873 Winchester rifle. Mfg'd 1882, factory research letter shows 24" round barrel was special order, heard 1 in 9 were ordered round. Beautiful shiny bore, wood is unsanded and extremely nice condition as is the metal, turned to a pleasant brownish color. Sports a nice original unsanded shotgun butt stock with metal spurred  flat butt plate. Reading the Winchestersite I seen a posting that some of the early 38 cal rifles were shipped with a shotgun butt. A genuine factory letter would prove it but I never got around to doing it. Interesting note this barrel is stamped Kings Improvement as are my others but the stamping is 38 - Cal, not a W.C.F. behind the 38 , I've seven other 73's left and they all state W.C.F. behind the caliber stamp. I've had this rifle some time, believe it or not I picked it up at a garage sale some time back. Some fellas get stuff like this passed down and it just don't matter. My price includes USPS , insured priority to lower 48. I checked the gun sites , 73's are all over the board, even the reproductions are high, I'm a long time Collector that's been whittling away at my pile , if you want to dicker, call or text, I'll talk. 920-590-3400, , sold to Dave LaBelle, N.H. Whom disassembled it , shot it, then sent it back, after a heated discussion I sent the rifle back and called him the new owner. The follower would not stay in mag tube.
