"Henry Nock Volley Gun (AL10261)
Description: "Made circa 1782. 50 caliber bores with 20" barrels. The Nock Volley guns had 7 barrels. This gun is the 1st type. Identified by the inverted frizzen spring. This gun is in very good condition with a light gray to brown patina on the barrels. The wood is very good with normal handling wear. Approximately 500 were made for the British navy in 1782 and additional 100 (2nd Models) were made in 1787. These guns were great in theory, but did not perform well. The challenge of loading seven barrels to reload, the inconsistency of firing all the barrels and the devastating recoil of all seven barrels going off at once were the big detractors. The Nock volley gun came to fame in the movie the Alamo starring John Wayne. Jim Bowie’s character was armed with a Nock Volley gun. Antique: Yes Price: $45,000.00 Contact Seller |
