".78 caliber 45.7/8"" long barrel American flintlock smoothbore musket in ""attic"" condition. The lock is of Germanic manufacturing circa 1740's with a large ""US"" stamped behind the lock, all other furniture is iron. Stock is American Black Walnut, and has been remortised to take the Germanic lock. Wood shows usage and handling wear, it is to note that ""I+P"" is painted in the left side. This may show native usage during the war. Action functions correctly. This musket can be found in William Guthman's book ""U.S. Army Weapons 1784-1791 on page 47.
