SPANISH MIQUELET GOLD INLAID AND CARVED SPORTING FLINTLOCK OF ABOUT 16 BORE

Description:
Gun has a 34-1/2 inch part octagon barrel with scattered light pitting throughout. A barrel maker's mark along with fleurs-de-lis, a cross, and a rampant lion in gold are on the breech section as well as a gold inlaid border and gold floral scroll patterns. The barrel has a golden blade front sight with gold inlaid accents. Vent has a gold liner. The lock has engraved and chiseled scroll accents and borders, a gold lined pan, and a serrated frizzen. The nearly full length stock has raised relief carved floral and a fluted butt. Brass collectors tag with "F.W. ROEBLING III/COLLECTION/TRENTON, N. J./5" accompanies this classic Spanish sporting gun. Mr. Roebling is a well known collector. Gun weighs just over 5 pounds. A delicate work of art.
