"Indian “Toradar" Matchlock Musket .65 Caliber Attributed to Fort Amer (AL10267)
Description: "NSN, circa 18th/19th century, .65 caliber, 46 ½" round swamped fluted Damascus barrel with a smooth brown patina. The breech and muzzle are richly chiseled with floral designs and adorned with gold damascening. A delicate leaf motif is also visible along both sides of the barrel. The barrel is secured with a single band. Metal side plates show light surface oxidation and are similarly decorated with leaf-patterned edging. Barrel is marked in Hindi script, reading “Raj Jaipur Teh Amer," identifying this musket as originating from Fort Amer in Jaipur—an important Indo-Islamic stronghold built in 1592 A.D. by Raja Man Singh. The stock has been lightly refurbished, with older repairs noted. Action functions correctly. A fine and historically significant example of Indian matchlock craftsmanship.
