"Percussion Kentucky Rifle by John Sweitzer (AL5801)

Description:
"Made circa 1860s. 48 caliber with 36 ½" barrel. The barrel has a gray patina and the metal has a cleaned. Both the barrel and the lock are marked Sweitzer. Wood is very good as showing restoration. The stock from the muzzle going back 25" is replaced. This patch box is very fine. The wrist shows cross hatching. The underside of the buttstock is lined with brass and is crudely engraved. The action works, but the set trigger does not engage. John Sweitzer worked out of Lindert Indiana.
