BRITAIN/ENGLAND BRITISH LOVELL‚S MUSKET PATTERN 1842 73CAL UNKNOWN
Description: Guns Listing ID: 540167 The overall length of this percussion Lovell‚s musket, Pattern 1842 musket is approx. 55.25\". The 39\" round 73 caliber smooth bore barrel has a very good bore. It has no visible marks. There is a block-bayonet lug front sight and a fixed U notch rear sight. The barrel retains approx. 90% of its original black paint finish. The lock has the East India Company standing lion. It, ant the hammer, have a dark brown patina. The brass nose cap, three ramrod pipes, trigger guard, and butt plate have an aged patina. The ramrod and swivels are present. The stock is fine with no cracks or chips, average issue wear, and an overall even dark finish. The forend has the Lovell‚s bayonet spring catch. The trigger guard and stock have what appear to be several Egyptian/North African letters stamped on them. The action functions correctly. This musket would fit any British or East Indial Company musket collection. This was the last of the smooth bore British muskets.
