Description:
.65 caliber heavy rifled 28" swapped octagon barrel. Engraved back action lock with hammer block safety. Double set triggers. German nickel silver mounts and sliding carved wooden patchbox. Sling swivels and original ramrod. Full length carved walnut stock, checkered at the forend and grip. In very fine condition with the barrel retaining considerable finish the maker's name in gold on the top flat. The lock and hammer now faded to a even gray patina with nice engraving. Very fine stock with a visible repair midway on the forend. Sharp bright bore. Very nice quality with original sights. Valentin Christoph Schilling worked in Suhl, Germany from 1849-1900
