Description: Lang percussion rifle. Made in London circa 1845, serial 189 (2x: barrel, tang) has a 27.25-inch Damascus barrel (octagon, .845-inch muzzle diameter, .538-inch groove diameter, .524 land diameter, drift-adjustable blade front sight, drift-adjustable rear sight with one fixed and two folding leafs marked 40/70/100 respectively). Features include a hammer safety, color case and polished blue. STOCK: The heavily-figured walnut blank is dressed with a horn forend tip, wrap checkering at the grip and a steel butt plate with stepped comb extension. ENGRAVING: Metal is decorated in bordered scroll in support of six game animals (game scene lion, leopard and stag, bear and boar busts, hammer shaped as a trumpeting elephant). An initial plate with crest rides the grip and a silver band rides the base of the barrel. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 6.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.3 inches. CONDITION: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. Barrel finish is approximately 60 percent with areas of tarnish. Colors are approximately 35 percent. Blue is approximately 75 percent.
