Antique Swiss Dannenhauer Peabody Martini Match Rifle
Description: Swiss Peabody-Martini Match Rifle by Emil Dannenhauer, Liestal — Antique Single Shot Target Rifle
1880s Swiss Match Rifle — Double Set Triggers — Adjustable Rear Sight — Project / Conversion Candidate
Description
Here is an antique Swiss Peabody-Martini match rifle built by Emil Dannenhauer of Liestal, Switzerland, active from 1880 to 1903. Originally chambered for the 10.4×38mm (.41 Swiss) rimfire cartridge, the barrel has been bored out in preparation for a .22 LR conversion. This is a project firearm and not currently functional, but the action is in good working order and the bones are excellent. A rewarding winter project at a very reasonable price.
Action & Metalwork
Peabody-Martini falling-block single-shot action with double set triggers — a classic Swiss match configuration. Action functions correctly. Original blue finish on the metalwork, with some finger marks and honest patina consistent with age. Weight: 11 lbs 9 oz.
Barrel
32¼" barrel. Bore has been opened in preparation for .22 LR conversion. Adjustable rear target sight. Originally chambered 10.4×38mm (.41 Swiss) rimfire.
Stock
Walnut stock with curved "Swiss" buttplate configuration and long 13³⁄??" length of pull. Some chipping at the tang area and old wood filler repair on the right-hand side — typical of a working Swiss club rifle of this era.
