Rare SCRANTON, PA Antique Luther TISDALE .32-20 Single Shot Rifle Sub-300 #
Fine Condition Low Number with Original Tang Peep Sight
Description: Rare SCRANTON, PA Antique Luther TISDALE .32-20 Single Shot Rifle Sub-300 # Fine Condition Low Number with Original Tang Peep Sight Here we present an antique Tisdale .32-20 WCF Single Shot Swivel Breech Rifle made by L.W. Tisdale in Scranton, PA circa 1850s. Luther Tisdale was a gunsmith located in Scranton, PA until about 1850. He relocated to Washington about that time and stayed there until his death in 1890. He specialized in fine heavy percussion match rifles. According to the US Census in 1870, Tisdale had employed no hands, purchased $350.00 in supplies, and sold $1,040.00 in “miscellaneous articles”. This specimen features a swivel barrel breech loading system, which would have been keeping up with the cutting-edge technology at the time. This rifle retains its original tang peep sight with a fine hooded front sight. The markings on the barrel clearly read “L.W. TISDALE/SCRANTON, PA/CAST STEEL”. This is a rare and early version as the serial number is only “287”. The number of rifles that were made is unknown, but this is the first we have observed and can find no other examples currently offered anywhere! This would have compared well to the Winchester Model 1885 falling block rifle among others. The overall condition is Fine. All parts of the action are as strong as ever. The bore is immaculate, shiny, and bright. The numbers match! A very rare and excellent rifle that’s a must have! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 30 inches. Caliber: .32-20 WCF Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3100 #191152 SOLD Antique: Yes |
