Antique DUAL IGNITION Northern India TORADAR Flintlock|Percussion Musket
MUGHAL EMPIRE Era Indian Late 1700s-Early 1800s
Description: Antique DUAL IGNITION Northern India TORADAR Flintlock|Percussion Musket MUGHAL EMPIRE Era Indian Late 1700s-Early 1800s Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Indian Toradar Dual Ignition Flintlock & Percussion Musket, made circa the late 18th century to the early 19th century in India. They were found mostly in the Mughal-influenced Northern and Central India. Emperor Akbar the Great was the Mughal ruler during the late half of the 16th Century. He was known for his many accomplishments, among which was the expansion of his empire. He was a great leader and military commander, but he also benefitted by adopting and developing firearms technology. Production and use of matchlock firearms greatly increased under his guidance, giving him an enormous advantage over those he would conquer. The Mughal Empire would finally succumb to the British in 1858. The Toradar is a type of smoothbore firearm used in the 16th through the mid-19th centuries by defending forces to break the advance of enemy troops. The overall condition is good. Original gold finish with dark patina on the iron parts. The action is strong. This one was converted from flintlock to percussion using an interesting method which meant keeping almost all of the infrastructure and adding a hammer to the cock and a nipple to the top of the barrel. The only thing missing from the original flintlock mechanism is the jaw assembly for holding a flint. The bore is smooth and dim. The stock has been repaired, especially around the lock and wrist area, and these areas are solid. A handsome and uniquely adapted firearm from India! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 37-1/2 inches. Caliber: .60 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
