Antique early 16th century heavy matchlock cannon or arquebuse barrel with incredible provenance
Description: This rare late medieval early renaissance piece can be dated to as early as the 1520s, denoted by its earliest fully developed powderpan on the righ hand side and the front and back sight, which are still crude in todays standards. This 36" long barrel starts with an octagonal part which transfers to a round middle section and end with an swamped octagonal barrel mouth. Attached are also medieval illustrations from the Maximillian I arsenal book from the 1500s showing very similare barrels. This barrel came from the private collection of an Italian noble family who is a direct decendant of the favous Niccolo de Machiavelli. Shipping is included in the price and will be done with utmost care and fully insured. For any question regarding this rare piece, don't hesitate to contact me. SOLD Antique: Yes |
