BRITISH Antique T. KETLAND & COMPANY .69 Caliber Flintlock FOWLER Smoothbore Musket
Description: BRITISH Antique T. KETLAND & COMPANY .69 Caliber Flintlock FOWLER Smoothbore Musket Here we present an antique English T. Ketland & Company Flintlock Fowler, made in Birmingham, England circa the late 1700s to early 1800s. This would have been a multipurpose long gun, suited for all the hunting duties required for village and frontier life as well as for militia duty. One could use this with a solid ball, shot or a combination called buck and ball. Ketland & Company was one of the most prominent and active British makers of the day. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate on this musket is marked "Ketland/& Co" ahead of the hammer. The left rear side of the barrel is stamped with two crown proofs along with “LONDON” on the barrel flat. The full length stock has brass furniture including the buttplate. The musket has an iron ramrod that appears to be made for this musket and from the period of use. The overall condition is good. Original patina. The action is excellent and will spark. The lock plate is original but the cock, frizzen, and spring are replacements. The bore is similarly patinated to the exterior and smooth. The stock has been repaired at several points in the forestock. There is an unrepaired crack as well. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 44-7/8 inches. Caliber: .69 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2300 #226520 SOLD Antique: Yes |
