c1840s Roxbury, MASSACHUSETTS Long Rifle by HENRY PRATT .61 Caliber Antique Half-Stock Smoothbore for Versatile Frontier Use
Description: c1840s Roxbury, MASSACHUSETTS Long Rifle by HENRY PRATT .61 Caliber Antique Half-Stock Smoothbore for Versatile Frontier Use Here we present an antique Henry Pratt Smoothbore “Long Rifle”, made circa the mid-19th Century in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Henry Pratt was 42 years old when he opened his gun shop in Roxbury in 1832. He worked there almost 30 years before moving to Boston and opening up a new shop where he stayed for almost 20 more years before closing upon his death in 1880. This “rifle” features a 36-inch octagonal barrel in .61 caliber with a smooth bore, making it handy for .61 caliber ball, shot, or buck and ball. “R/ASHMORE/WARRANTED” is marked on the lock. “H. PRATT” is signed atop the barrel. This one has what appears to be a later ad hoc type of notched rear sight mounted within the dovetail. Small blade front sight. Brass furniture with pewter fore end cap. Half-length stock. Simple patchbox with a star-like base and rectangular door. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The smooth bore is in good shape for age with a patina. The stock shows lots of use and has some splitting around the lock and around the fore end. The butt plate has a slight movement to it. Overall, an attractive piece of hardware that would have been useful to just about anyone in this period of American history. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36 inches. Caliber: .61 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1995 #215297 SOLD Antique: Yes |
