Description: CAIRNS & Co. Antique OFFICER’S FUSIL Smoothbore Musket .50 Caliber c1800 European Style Flintlock to Percussion Here we present an antique Officer’s Fusil by Cairns & Co., made circa the early 1800s. This musket features a full-length stock and brass hardware. The barrel is octagonal and 32-inches, smoothbored and in .50 caliber (.505 approximately). Rifle sights. This is a very nice musket that was initially made in the flintlock format before being updated circa the 1830s or 40s, so that it would have been current and made that much more reliable. “CAIRNS & Co.” is engraved on the lock, possibly of British origina. “GW” is marked on the barrel and the stock, which looks like an inspection marking. It is very likely that this was the personal weapon of a militia officer in early America. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong, and the bore is in good shape. This piece may yet hold untold secrets and would look excellent on display. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32-1/4 inches.
