Early 1800s EUROPEAN Antique .79 Percussion Conversion RIFLED “MANSTOPPER”
OFFICER’S STYLE Short Range SELF DEFENSE Pistol
Description: Early 1800s EUROPEAN Antique .79 Percussion Conversion RIFLED “MANSTOPPER” OFFICER’S STYLE Short Range SELF DEFENSE Pistol Here we present an antique European Percussion Conversion Belt/Holster/Coat Pocket Pistol, made circa the early 19th Century likely in mainland Europe. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and converted over when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. This large bore flintlock pistol was used primarily as a self-defense weapon. Their effective range was short, and they were frequently used as an adjunct to a sword. Pistols in this era were usually smoothbore, although some rifled pistols were produced. They came in a variety of sizes with the smallest being less than 6 inches and the largest ranging to over 20 inches. The large-sized ones, such as this one, are what would be carried in the busy streets of Paris or London in the pocket of a gentleman’s coat or tucked into his belt during the tumultuous times of the mid-1700s to the early 1800’s in Western Europe. This also could have been privately purchased by a military officer to be carried into battle. This one features a “Manstopping” .79 caliber bore. The overall condition is good. Robust action. The bore is in good shape with rifling. Nicely checkered grip. Soid stock. A screw is missing from the side plate. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9 inches. Caliber: .79 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #230954 SOLD Antique: Yes |
