Description: Mid-1800s Antique HOLLIS BROS. & CO. British .65 Caliber PERCUSSION Carbine London Made Rifle from the mid-19th Century Here we present an antique Hollis Bros. & Co. Percussion Carbine made between 1845 to 1848 in London, England. Hollis Brothers & Company started out in the first half of the 19th century in London, England with the name “Hollis Brothers”. The brothers were Isaac Hollis and Frederick Hollis, with Frederick passing away in 1839. It continued under that trade name until 1845 when it was re-named “Hollis Brothers & Co. which continued until 1848, when it became “Hollis & Sons”. The latter became known as a supplier of pistols and shotguns, and also produced muskets for the North American Indian trade. The overall condition is very good. Nice patina. Strong action. Good bore for its age. The stock is solid with and average amount of wear. A unique heart-shaped medallion is embedded on the left buttstock and is hand marked, appearing to read “EK”.
