Rare CONNECTICUT MILITIA Flintlock MUSKET by WHITE Early 1800s from Hebron, CT, “UC” Marked & Rack Numbered!
Description: Rare CONNECTICUT MILITIA Flintlock MUSKET by WHITE Early 1800s from Hebron, CT, “UC” Marked & Rack Numbered! Here we present an antique US Marked Connecticut Militia Flintlock Musket by J.W. White of Hebron, Connecticut, made circa the 1830s. Muskets such as these were issued to local militias, often in the states in which they were made. This musket was made during the production of the Model 1816, and while there are similarities in overall configuration, caliber, etc., there is a marked difference in the weight of each gun, with this musket by White being much lighter and slenderer. This musket is fitted with a lighter-weight lock with some nice engraving and “J. COOPER” marked on it, the name of the lock maker. The top of the barrel is stamped “J.W. WHITE” over “HEBRON, CT” in two lines. There is an inspection stamp of “AH” on the left side of the barrel, for sub-ordnance inspector Asabel Hubbard who inspected flintlock and percussion barrels between the years of 1813 through 1847. Above that is “US” and below is a “P” in a fringe-edged oval. Finally, there are two markings in the butt stock that really set this one apart: 1) is the large “U.C.” marking in the right side and 2) is the brass number plate inset in the comb with a number “16” rack number. The overall condition is near fine. The bore is smooth and in nice condition. The action remains strong and crisp. What a wonderful piece of Americana and a reminder of the militia system as an American institution! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 42-1/8 inches. Caliber: .69 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3600 #190310 SOLD Antique: Yes |
