Antique Ornate MEDITERRANEAN “DRAGON” Flintlock BLUNDERBUSS Naval Pirate
Used by Navies & Pirates for Boarding and Repelling!
Description: Antique Ornate MEDITERRANEAN “DRAGON” Flintlock BLUNDERBUSS Naval Pirate Used by Navies & Pirates for Boarding and Repelling! Here we present an antique Ornate Ottoman Style Flintlock Blunderbuss, made circa the 1700s. The blunderbuss is a firearm with a short, large caliber barrel that’s flared at the muzzle. It would have been used with shot and other projectiles. The blunderbuss is commonly considered to be an early predecessor of the modern-day shotgun, with similar military and defensive use. It was effective only at short range, lacking accuracy at long range. A blunderbuss in handgun form was called a Dragon, and it’s from this, that the term “Dragoon” evolved. In many cases, the face of a dragon was engraved into the barrel near the muzzle. Thus, when fired, it appeared as if a fire-breathing dragon had entered the room! The flintlock blunderbuss was the original coach gun, being a short, handy and devastating weapon at close range. It was used in many capacities, not the least of which were for naval boarding or defending by pirates and navies alike! "J-B. AGUILLON" is marked on the lock. “NOIOION” can be clearly read atop the barrel The overall condition is fair. The action does not function. When the hammer is cocked, pulling the trigger does not release it. The bore is good. The side plate is cracked, but stable. This specimen features beautiful inlays in the stock. Overall, this is a fantastic example of old-world craftsmanship that will be the most talked about piece in your collection. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 10-3/4 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2295 #20717 SOLD Antique: Yes |
