c1770s Antique GRIFFIN & TOW Flintlock Blunderbuss REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era
250+ Year Old Close Range Weapon!
Description: c1770s Antique GRIFFIN & TOW Flintlock Blunderbuss REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era 250+ Year Old Close Range Weapon! Here we present an antique Griffin & Tow English Flintlock Blunderbuss, made circa 1772-82. Griffin & Tow were known high quality gunmakers working out of London, England between 1772 and 1782 as stated in H. Blackmore’s “Gunmakers of London 1350-1850”, page 104. This example has a 16″ round, smoothbore, .65 caliber barrel with two London proof-marks and a faint “IG” (Joseph Griffin 1741-1782) maker’s mark. The top of the barrel has the “GRIFFIN & TOW LONDON” makers’ mark. The lock is of high-quality manufacture with a sliding rear safety, a rounded lockplate and gooseneck hammer, each with a “hound’s-tooth” border engraving. It is clearly engraved under the powder-pan, “Griffin & Tow”. The initial placard at the top of the wrist has the initials “TAC”. This one is unique in that it seems never to have been fitted with a butt plate, rather the stock was contoured for use without one. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape and remains smooth with an aged). The stock is solid in very good shape with less than expected wear. The placard has been inscribed. “Griffin & Tow” is engraved on the lock and barrel. This example has survived in its original flintlock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 16 inches. Caliber: .65 Flintlock (larger at the bell of the muzzle) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $7735 #215132 SOLD Antique: Yes |
