Revolutionary War Period BRASS BARRELED BLUNDERBUSS by BRANDER c1770s
Made in the Minories, London During the Colonial Era
Description: Revolutionary War Period BRASS BARRELED BLUNDERBUSS by BRANDER c1770s Made in the Minories, London During the Colonial Era Here we present an antique Brass Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss by William Brander, made circa the 1770s. William Brander II was a gunmaker working out of the Minories in London with a career spanning circa 1748-1782. His father was William I, who was a gunmaker before him. William II was apprenticed to Samuel Blanckley until about 1741. He started out on his own circa 1752 and became a Master circa 1767. He practiced through about the end of the 18th Century and his son Martin followed in his footsteps, keeping the family business going until about 1826. This blunderbuss would have made a fine close-range weapon prime for aboard a ship for boarding or repelling boarders. The Navy, merchants, and of course pirates would all have had use or necessity for such a tool. The barrel is marked “*WB”, William Brander’s maker mark, between London view and proof marks. This is a business-like tool but there is a small engraved embellishment of a flower on the trigger guard. The overall condition is very good. The action is as strong as ever. The bore is in great shape. The stock is solid. A sharp-looking British blunderbuss from a well-known maker! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 16 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $5435 #201315 SOLD Antique: Yes |
