#4766 Remington Rolling Block military rifled-musket, 32”x50/70CF, New York State contract with safety notch and distinctive high-spur hammer, complete with two-claw brass fitted military sling. Action is smooth and tight; bore has some scattered pitting ranging from light to medium; should easily clean to about a 6-7 on a scale of 10. The exterior is smooth light grey brown barrel metal, silver-brown faded case hardening on the receiver, with no pitting of any consequence. Wood is VG but does have a sliver-chip on the forearm (see photo) and usual bumps and bruises elsewhere. It is stamped in several locations with the single number “8”; it has no federal cartouches, so likely this was originally a state or militia purchase. Standard military sights. VG/VG+ $875
