Description: Antique LUDWIG LOEWE & Co CHILEAN Contract M1895 MAUSER Bolt Action Carbine SCARCE Military Rifle Produced in BERLIN, GERMANY Here we present an antique Chilean Contract Mauser Model 1895 Bolt Action Carbine manufactured under contract by the renowned Ludwig Loewe Arms Company of Berlin, Germany circa 1895, which from 1887 onward was actually part owner of Mauser Waffenfabrik. In 1896 the company consolidated its arms manufacturing, and founded Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken, the famous D.W.M. manufacturer. All rifles made in 1897 and onward were marked with the new company abbreviation. Therefore, any LUDWIG LOEWE marked firearm is considered an antique. Most Chilean Contract Model 1895 Rifles and Carbines found today are marked DWM, and examples by Ludwig Loewe are very hard to find. The Model 1893/1895 Mauser rifle was a significant leap in the bolt action designs that was painfully demonstrated at the battle of San Juan Hill and was a significant factor in the adoption of the U.S. M1903 rifle. As mentioned, this example was manufactured in 1895 in Germany under contract for the Chilean military. It features a worn Chilean crest on top of the chamber and an "M.F" cartouche on the left of the stock. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Solid stock showing expected use. Numbers match on the magazine plate and receiver. Bright bore, contains sharp rifling. Legible markings. Some original finish on the barrel. Own the original!
