ENGRAVED Antique British NEEDLEFIRE Single Shot RISACK BREVETTE Damascus Rifle Made in England circa the early 1850s
Description: ENGRAVED Antique British NEEDLEFIRE Single Shot RISACK BREVETTE Damascus Rifle Made in England circa the early 1850s Here we present an antique Engraved British Risack Brevette Needlefire Damascus Rifle, manufactured circa the 1850s likely in London or Birmingham, England. After conducting multiple experiments beginning in 1824, Prussian gunsmith Johann Nikolaus von Dreyse in 1836 produced the first complete needle fire gun and founded a firearms factory in the town. These were muzzle-loading, with the novelty of the weapon lying in the long needle driven by a coiled conchoidal spring which fired the internal percussion cap on the base of the sabot, which is a device that ensures the correct positioning of a bullet or shell in the barrel of a gun, attached either to the projectile or inside the barrel and falling away as it leaves the muzzle. It was his adoption of the bolt-action breechloading principle combined with this igniter system which gave the rifle its military potential, allowing, as it did, a much faster rate of fire. The overall condition is good. Strong action, there is a little wiggle at the hinge. Solid stock with average handling. Lightly engraved frame. A brown patina has settled over the damascus barrel. “Crown/V” proof marks under the barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: 10mm Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #220652 SOLD Antique: Yes |
