Outstanding Marlin Model 1881 Lever Action Rifle .38-55 Made in 1886

Description:
This gun is in outstanding condition! Retains 90% original receiver blue with some handling marks. The barrel and tube retain 85% blue with some fading and handling marks. The lever, hammer, nose cap, and buttplate have traces of case colors which have silvered with age. All markings are sharp and clear. Fine bore with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function, although the lever is very slightly loose. 24 inch octagon barrel. The wood is very fine with minute handling marks. Flip front sight. Long range Vernier tang sight appears to be original to the gun. This gun is in .38-55 Ballard, of which only 3,563 were made (out of 4 calibers totalling a production of roughly 21,000. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer example of these fairly rare guns! This gun was made in 1886 according to Cody records. Serial number is 12271
