Guns International #: 100388218
Seller's Inventory #: 1396
With a production run of only 5 years (1886-90) and a total of only 10-12,000 guns made in all models (The large frame being the rarest) and you have one scarce rifle. This is a standard 1886 Large frame in 40 Cal. (stamped on rec.) which has to be either the 40-60 or the 40-75. It has a 28" octagon barrel with full magazine. The Bullard action works on a ratchet and is one of the , if not the, smoothest lever action rifle ever made. The same idea was used by Browing in their modern BLR. It has one special feature on this rifle and that is the Bullard log hard rubber shotgun style butt plate. The wood grain is exceptional and would be considered duluxe grade wood on a Winchester. Stock does show some bumps and bruises but has the high gloss and is quite striking. The receiver has at least 60-70% high polish blue on both sides. Barrel and tube have nice blue starting to plum with strong factory markings. Nice bore with really strong lands and sharp grooves. Simply a wonderful and scarce big bore large frame Wild West rifle.
