Description: Unique model 1873 Winchester repeating rifle; 23-3/4" barrel ; ser.# 431774, bought from an Apache Indian in 1890's. Fore-arm is decorated with leather, tacks, beadwork and feathers; stock is studded. The butt plate was removed (better used as a hide scraper) and was replaced with leather fastened with small nails and brass tacks and a bone piece on top. A very nice Apache Indian used rifle "loaded" with character and charm. Update: Just saw a Sioux Indian rifle with the beadwork on fore end like this one in a book "Firearms in the Custer Battle". SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1873 Serial Number: 431774 Caliber Info: 32 |
