Johann Michael worked in Cronach (Kronach by current spelling and is located in upper Franconia, Germany in the Frankenwald area) from 1716 to 1735. The lock is engraved with a hunter stalking a stag in a forest setting. The cock is engraved with head of a fierce creature. Bore is approximately .60 caliber. Stock and patch box are tastefully carved. Overall condition is very good plus. This is a handsome Jeager Wheelock carbine with very nice eye appeal.
Note: The city of Kronach was the home to the famous painter Lucas Cranach.
