“J Jenison” Signed Full-Stock FLINTLOCK Long Rifle
Description: “J Jenison” Signed Full-Stock FLINTLOCK Long Rifle With Relief Carved Rampant Lion on Stock Here we present an antique Full-Stock New England Flintlock Long Rifle by James Jenison, made circa the 1820s in Southbridge, Massachusetts in Worcester County. James Jenison (1798-1872) was a master gunsmith known for his New England rifles. He apprenticed under the famous New England gun maker Silas Allen Jr. (1785-1868). This one is set in an attractive full-length stock in which is carved a Rampant Lion on the left side of the butt stock. The right side is set with a brass patch box. The rifle features a brass crescent butt plate and trigger guard. The stock is modestly carved at the top of the wrist and inset with an initial placard. The lock is unmarked. The barrel is signed “J. JENISON”. The overall condition is very good. The barrel is a smooth, even brown with the brass parts being dark with age. The markings are legible. The stock is smooth and sound with only a short, stable split beginning at the back of the rearmost ramrod tube. The bore is sharply rifled but caked with dust over the years. The action is strong and crisp. Here is a fantastic example of an early 19th Century Flintlock New England Rifle by Jenison! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 38-1/2 inches. Caliber: .59 (land to land) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2150 #6366 SOLD Antique: Yes |
