This Pattern 1809 Brown Bess military musket is also known as the third model Brown Bess. The 39"" 75 caliber barrel has a fine smooth bore.The barrel and lock are polished bright and have scattered areas of light brown staining. The barrel has two London proof marks. The lock is marked TOWER at the tail and has a barely visible (from way too much polishing) crown over GR in the center. The Ordnance crown over broad arrow accepatance stamp is forward of the crown. The brass furniture, which was cleaned at some point, is very good with some ageing. The stock, with an old refinish, is fine. It has a stable stress crack above the trigger guard at the seke plate. There are a handful of issue dents, dings, and scratches. There are no markings on the stock. A replacement ramrod and the swivels are present. The action functions correctly. This very nice looking overall Pattern 1809 Brown Bess musket is ready for your collection.
