Czechoslovakian rifle. Stunning Eastern European highly decorated relief chiseled, inlaid, and carved rifle, possibly the Moravian region of Czechoslovakia. The rifle has the following embellishments: expertly chiseled barrel, lock and cock; stock is well carved with decorative leaves and floral designs; the brass furniture is outstanding in that the intricate design patterns had to been laid out as the patterns are outstanding in their complexity; the patch box door which is decorated in red enamel opens and closes perfectly; and even the brass inlays are engraved. We believe the stock is European Maple. The overall length is 45.5". The 31" octagon approximately .55 caliber barrel has a good bore with deep rifling. The swamped barrel is approx. 2" at the breech, .91" in the center and 1.65" at the muzzle. There are two sling swivels. The action works perfectly. Note: an old tag on the rifle says remove ramrod before removing lock bolts. This has to be one of the most unusual antique guns in terms of the variety and high quality of the design and workmanship.
