This flintlock musket appears to be Danish and circa late 18th to early 19th century.. Based on its lack of markings and configuration this may well be a ""castle gun"" that was provided by the lord of the castle to guests. The overall length is approx. 55"". The round 39.5"" 70 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fine bore. There are no sights. The barrel has a bayonet stud at the 6 o'clock position. The barrel and lock are bright with scattered light staining. The only mark on the musket is on the center of the lock. It appears to be a script 2 with a line through it. The brass bands, triggerguard, sideplate, and buttplate are fine. The stock is fine with sharp edges, minimal wear and no cracks or chips. There is a storage dent on the left side of the forearm a couple inches forward of the rear band. The rear sling swivel is attached to the triggerguard and the front swivel is bolted throung the forearm just forward of the middle band. The ramrod is present. The action functions correctly. This fine musket is ready your European of Scandanavian flintlock musket collection.
