Very high quality Spanish Miguelet lock/flintlock rifle. Made for the Ottoman trade. This fine rifle has extensive gold inlay decorations on the barrel, rear sight, and lock. The large rear sight which is approx. 1.1" tall, 1.45" wide and .4" thick has three sighting holes. It is typical of Ottoman Empire rifles of the era. The overall length is approximately 48.5". The 32 3/8" octagon .64 caliber barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. The metal is bright with light staining and no pitting. The trigger guard is iron and has light scroll engraving on the bow. The barrel bands are silver. The stock is good with very few storage dents and a repaired crack from behind the trigger to the lock on the right. The action functions correctly. This is a gun made most likely in Spain for export to the Ottoman Empire. They are rarely seen today, especially in this high grade and condition.
