This 1812 dated 1808 type flintlock musket was made for the State of New York. The 42"" round 69 caliber smooth bore barrel has a very good brown bore with visible manufacturing marks. lIt is marked at the breech M over 1812 followed by P over SJ followed by a larger SNY at the rear. The barrel is a smooth gray-brown. The lock is marked only SNY. It, and the other metal parts, have s brown patina.. The swivels and ramrod are present. The stock is fair. It has an old poorly done crack repair at the wrist, complete with small nails.The remainder pf the stock is good with issue dents and dings and with a nice round New York state inspection stamp on the left flat. The original flintlock action functions correctly. This is a good representative New York State War of 1812 flintlock musket.
