U.S. Model 1817 “Common Rifle” dated 1826 on barrel tang and lock. Contract to R. & J.D. Johnson. Production of 3000 between 1824-1827. This is right up there with the “As good as it gets department” for condition. Gun has 97-98% original arsenal brown. Cartouche on stock is excellent with raised grain and sharp edges. Trigger guard, butt plate and barrel bands have 98-99% original arsenal brown. Over the last 43 years we have sold numerous “Common rifles” in great condition but not better than this one!
