Antique NATIVE AMERICAN Flintlock NORTHWEST TRADE Musket with SITTING FOX
LIEGE PROOFED Mid-1800s FULL STOCK Long Gun
Description: Antique NATIVE AMERICAN Flintlock NORTHWEST TRADE Musket with SITTING FOX LIEGE PROOFED Mid-1800s FULL STOCK Long Gun Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Native American Northwest Trade Smoothbore Long Gun made circa the mid-19th Century in Liege, Belgium before being exported to the United States. These muskets would have been made to be trade items to isolated tribes throughout the growing United States and the practice actually predates the United States as a country. Muskets and long rifles were still in use at this time, though this was a period of great firearms technology development during which cartridge firearms and soon repeaters would become common. These would have been relatively inexpensive to manufacture and purchase and highly desirable to Native Americans who did not have access to many firearms, much less those on the cutting edge of technology. These tend to have been used hard and faced massive attrition due to conflict and exposure to the elements. This trade musket features the hallmarks of such firearms made for trade with the Natives including serpentine side-plate on the left side of the gun as well as a smooth bore and enlarged trigger guard. It is amazing that under such conditions anything would have survived, much less one as nice as this example. This example has a “Sitting Fox” on the top at the barrel breech and the lock plate. The Liege proof mark is on the top of the barrel. The overall condition is very good. A smooth gray patina remains on the barrel and lock. Strong action. This example remains in its original flintlock configuration. The bore is in good shape for its age. The stock has less than expected handling wear only showing minor rub marks and dings. Markings are legible. This is a nice musket that remains an important and tangible piece of American history. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 38-3/8 inches. Caliber: .60 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. $2900 #259498 SOLD Antique: Yes |
