Early English Trade Musket
Description: Early English trade musket with 48" octagon to round, smoothbore barrel. Period Flintlock to percussion conversion. Curly maple stock with engraved brass furniture, lock, sideplate and buttplate. Barrel features faint english proof marks and the word LONDON. Stock features brass inlay of the letters GR with a crown over the top, an indicia used by the British Army. Musket has seen much use and has multiple period repairs. The barrel has a heavy brown patina and is pitted throughout. Estimated to have been manufactured between 1700 and 1740. Imagine the stories this firearm could tell!
