MUSKETEER RIFLES DUTCH FLINTLOCK INFANTRY MUSKET CIRCA 1700-1730 UNKNOWN
Description: Guns Listing ID: 548550 This flintlock Dutch Infantry musket is Circa 1700-1730. It is 57.25\" in overall length. The 42\" approx. 68 claiber smooth bore octagon to round barrel has a good dark bore with light roughness. There are two wedding bands, the first at approx. 12.75\" from the breech, and the secnod (two fine lines) at approx. 15.25\". All the lightly polished metal is smooth and bright with scattered light staining with a few darker stains. The barrel, barrel bands and lock are stamped with Dutch proofs. The restored stock is very good with repairs evident to the forend. It apprars that the middle band, and possibly the nose cqp, were added at a later date, possibly for use in the Americaqn Revolution. The lock functions correclty but has a weak mainspring. Many of these flintlock Dutch muskets were used during the Revolutionary War. Ths may well be one of them.
