This appears to be a Springfield model 1812 /1816 flintlock .69 caliber smoothbore military musket. The lock is stamped "TOWER" in a vertical position on the rear of the lock plate. There appears to be no markings on the middle of the lock plate. There are no markings on tang, barrel, or butt plate. Comes with leather sling and flared iron ramrod.
Condition:
Lock works as designed with strong lock spring. Hammer has two positions half cocked and full cocked. Frizzen and primimg pan in look to be in very good condition. The barrel finish is in the brown showing mild oxidastion, with no signs of corrision or pitting near the breech. The stock has a crack behind the tang on the right side with small chips, impressions, and handling marks elsewhere. Lock has beem coated in grease for preservation. Overall Rifle in solid condition for age.
