Guns International #: 101488490
Seller's Inventory #: AL5065
Model 1842 South Carolina Palmetto Armory. 42" round .69 caliber barrel with fouling in the bore. Metal is a gray/brown patina with the dings and erosion expected of a well-used military arm. Stock is good with issue dents and dings. The lightly pitted lock has “Columbia / S.C. 1852" to the rear and the Palmetto tree circled by “Palmetto armory" (armory is light) and “S?C" in the bottom center. The barrel is stamped “V" over “P". The normal W. Glaze & Co. marking is absent. The U.S. marked butt plate has moderate roughness on the bottom. The swivels and cleaning rod are present. Hammer has light pitting. This is a gun that has been together for a very long time. It has the look of “been there, done that". This would be a great addition to any southern or Civil War collection.
