Serial No. 3568, circa 1860's, .52 caliber, 20"" three groove barrel. Metal is a dark grey patina with scattered mottled areas of oxidation noted. Bore shows evident frosting and pitting in the grooves with faint rifling visible. Rear sight and saddle bar with ring have been removed. Top of the breech is mark with ""Spencer Repeating/ Rifle Co. Boston,Mass/PAT'd March 6,1860"". Stabler Cut Off device has been added. Forearm has a 5 1/2 crack noted on the right side that goes from the receiver the the barrel band. Expected nicks, dings and scratches are visible. Action is tight and functions correctly. Good example of an altered Spencer carbine.
