Description:
"NSN. Manufactured circa late 1850s–early 1860s, chambered in .58 caliber,37.5"" hex-to-round rifled barrel. The musket shows honest service wear, with metal surfaces aged to a mixture of light and dark grey patina. The Model 1854 Lorenz was one of the most widely imported foreign arms used during the American Civil War, second only to the Enfield in quantity, and was issued extensively to Union forces. The stock is clearly marked “OHIO" at the rear of the barrel tang and on the left side behind the side plate, indicating state ownership following U.S. procurement and distribution. The stock remains in good condition with expected handling and service marks. The lock plate is marked “860." The action holds at both half and full cock, remaining mechanically functional. The musket is equipped with a socket bayonet.
