"Scarce Jacob’s Rifle by Swinburn & Son w/ Rare Bayonet (51934)
Description: "NSN. Made circa 1860. 52.5 caliber with 23.5" barrel. This is a rare Jacob’s Rifle was the invention of Brigadier General John Jacob of the Bombay Army of the East India Company. He saw the deficiencies of the Brunswick rifle and decided to come up with a better design. Among these features was it being a double rifle that took a sword bayonet with a 30" blade, 4 groove rifling and a 2,000 yard sight. This gun was made in 1860 as dated by the locks. The patch box has the signature Jacob’s rifle markings Both the metal and wood have been nicely refinished which is not uncommon among British guns of this era.
