NSN, made in 1847, .54 caliber, 33"" proofed rifled barrel. Only 5,000 Tryon were manufactured for the Government. Barrel is a light grey patina with pin-prick surface oxidation noted. A faint ""1847"" is visible on the breech with inspector marks noted. Stock shows light handling wear with two handsome cartouches visible. Lock plate is marked ""Tryon/US"" rear of the hammer is marked ""PHILADA/PA/1847"". Action holds at half and full cock. The brass furniture is a nice dull gold color. There is a good chance this rifle saw service in the Mexican American War!
