"U.S. Civil War Austrian Lorenz Rifle Musket (AL5069) DTX

Description:
"NSN, circa 1860's, .54 caliber, 37 1/4"" round rifled barrel. Metal has a smooth gray patina with areas of very light pitting. The beech wood stock is very good with some wood loss at the ramrod channel between the top two bands. A period replacement ramrod and both swivels are present. Stock has small age cracks at the bottom of the toe. The lock is unmarked. The top flat of the barrel is marked “IH" which stands for Josef Heitzenberger of Vienna. In addition, “G.W. Lewis" is stamped on the top flat. Possibly he was the soldier who carried this rifle musket. (DALLAS LOCATION)
