1850's to 1860's Vintage British Day's Patent Underhammer Percussion Cane Gun in .58 Caliber
** Scarce **
Description: This is a very interesting antique British-manufacture Day's Patent Underhammer Percussion Cane Gun in .58 Caliber. This cane gun has an overall length of just over 34.25" inches with a barrel length of 27.75" inches. The main body is steel while the handle is carved hardwood. The design uses a fold-away trigger and hammer and a screw-off barrel for loading from the breech end. This cane gun could be loaded with shot or a patched round ball and the barrel would have originally had a shoot-thru rubber tip on it to protect the muzzle. This cane gun is well-marked with British proofs and still has the original "Day's Patent" plaque affixed just behind the trigger. The firing mechanism won't stay cocked and the barrel has seized where it will not screw off with what careful force we have applied. This is strictly a display piece and a very cool one at that. Would be a great candidate for a full restoration or would make a great decorator/conversation piece as-is. As an antique this can be shipped directly to your home, no FFL needed.
